Rumney: Labor Day 2006September 5th 2006 |
---|
Tuesday, September 5th 2006. Up early, both to
forge ahead with this missive and to get on the road early.
Breakfast, then we rolled. Light traffic. We were both anxious to see
The Bean, not sure if she'd be happy to see us or angry that we'd
left. Nightly phone calls to her guardians yielded positive reports,
but we knew unless there was a serious problem we'd never hear about
it. And we missed her.
We needn't have worried. She heard me enter the building, rushed down the stairs and gave me one of those thick and juicy arms and legs hugs and a big wet head grabbing kiss. Then to Mommy. She recounted her play dates with Friend Tilly, her parties with Neighbor Judy and her fun with Grandma and Grandpa. She even asked when we're leaving again. In conclusion, I'd have to say that this was The Best Rumney Trip Ever. Good friends, good food and good climbing. The weather cooperated two thirds of the time (Or two thirds of the time we were there. Andy, having arrived two days before us climbed 5 days with one break). Susan's Urinary Tract Leader Fall (good name for a climb, eh?) will be the stuff of Appie lore. Babs and I got to spend some time without the distraction of an offspring and connect as a couple. Fun yes, but it's good to be back in New York City where the women are beautiful, thin and have a full set of teeth. That is all (finally). |
